Raven Longbow
The Raven is a reflex / deflex bow with a medium reflex sweep in the limbs when unstrung. It incorporates a 62” string and sports a medium locator style grip. Unless otherwise specified the riser wood is Sheoak and the limbs are laminated with a hard maple core sandwiched in fiberglass and comes in draw weights of 30# to 50# which can be drawn up to 31”... It is a smooth shooting, high performance bow.
Details
Riser Woods: Unless otherwise stated the main wood I use in the construction of the riser is Sheoak. It grows wild here and is not indigenous to the United States. It is non-oily, heavy, dense hardwood with a beautiful grain that has small pores which shapes and glues well. I use a minimal amount of exotic wood for accents and contrast...
Shelf Area: The shelf is radiused with the highest point located over the throat of the grip which aids in accuracy. It is also slightly canted inward to facilitate keeping the arrow in place. The window is cut to center which makes it a bit more forgiving when it comes to arrow spine stiffness. My bows are unique in that they have a slot cut into the shelf that allows you to shoot arrows with vains if you choose.
Grip: A medium locator style grip sculpted to fit the hand very comfortably. The medium grip has more flexibility as far as grip styles go.
String: Endless loop, fast flight, 62” long. The string size is written on the bow which will avoid any confusion when ordering a new string.
Length of bow: The length of the bow is 62” nock to nock when strung. I use the measurement of string length to label the length of my bows... It takes all of the guess work and confusion out of string and bow lengths... Besides who uses a bow when it is unstrung? Length of bow when unstrung is roughly 64 1/2” nock to nock.
Finish: The Raven is coated with a durable urethane matte finish that will keep the original colors crisp and fresh and stand up to the rigors of the great outdoors.
Limbs: Constructed of strategically sanded laminations of hard maple (unless otherwise specified), sandwiched in fiberglass with a reflex sweep when unstrung. When strung the Raven takes on a D-shape with straight to slightly reflexed limbs near the tips and has smooth and flowing lines.
Tips: The tips are reinforced with an over lay of fiberglass making it compatible with any high performance, non-stretch string.
Fiberglass: Standard glass comes in colors of white, black, brown, dark brown, caramel, green and clear. I also make my own fiberglass which can be made in any color I choose...
Performance
I have spent about two years experimenting, testing and developing the Raven. I developed the "Hyper Lam" which enables me to do away with power lams and tip wedges. Using the Hyper Lam cuts down on time and costs and gives me a far more consistent and high performance bow. It draws smooth and is a very stable shooter and when tuned properly is very quiet. The Raven is an all around bow that will do well as a Target / 3D or Hunting Bow.
